Our Services

I am pleased to welcome referrals for gynaecological presentations and conditions, including the following:

Abnormal bleeding

Abnormal vaginal bleeding is a common gynaecological presentation that can include heavy menstrual bleeding, intermenstrual bleeding, postcoital bleeding, and irregular periods. Abnormal bleeding may interfere with your quality of life, whether that be your health (either physical or psychological), social or work life, and wellbeing.

Endometriosis

Endometriosis is a chronic condition caused by tissue that is similar to the lining of the uterus that is deposited outside of the uterus. Symptoms can include pain, bloating, abnormal bleeding, and subfertility

Ovarian cysts

Cysts can occur on the ovaries. Some cysts cause no symptoms, but large cysts may cause pain or bloating. They can also twist on themselves or rupture and this can present with severe pain. Some common benign ovarian cysts are functional cysts, dermoid cysts, cystadenomas, and endometriomas.

Fibroids

Fibroids are benign growths in the uterus that grow under the influence of oestrogen. They can cause pain, pelvic pressure, heavy periods, enlarged abdomen, problems voiding urine, constipation, and subfertility.

Adenomyosis

Adenomyosis is a condition where the lining of the uterus grows into the muscular body of the uterus. This leads to the uterus grow larger and can cause painful periods, heavy periods, and subfertility.

Perimenopause & Menopause

Perimenopause and menopause are periods of significant hormonal and life changes occurring often in midlife. Symptoms can include hot flushes and night sweats, insomnia, aches and pains, vaginal dryness, urinary symptoms, mood changes, and brain fog.

Please note that Dr Holbeach only provides public obstetric care and does not offer private obstetric services.

Surgery & Procedures

I offer a range or procedures including minimally invasive surgery.

Colposcopy

A colposcopy can be done in the rooms as part of your gynaecological examination or in theatre before a procedure like a LLETZ. The colposcope is a microscope with a light source that permits the colposcopist to see more detail on the cervix. Sometimes a biopsy may be performed at the same time, but not always.

Large Loop Excision of the Transformation Zone (LLETZ)

A LLETZ is a procedure that involves removing precancerous cells from the cervix.

Hysteroscopic Surgery

Hysteroscopic procedures involve viewing the inside of the uterus with a small camera. This allows the gynaecologist to identify any pathology that might explain your symptoms. At the same time, a biopsy can be taken of the lining of the uterus or treatment can be done to remove the pathology, for example a polyp or fibroid.

Laparoscopic Surgery

Laparoscopic procedures involved viewing the inside of the abdomen with a small camera. This minimally invasive approach allows the gynaecologist to perform your surgery through usually 3-4 small ports. We can perform hysterectomies, excision of endometriosis, ovarian cystectomies, and many other procedures this way.

When you see Dr Holbeach you can be confident that your gynaecologist is providing you with the most up to date care.
